Work types and Laws are of central importance but also some of most difficult facets as local conceptualisations vary so much. In v3 (March 2025) we have reached a certain level of maturity but this workstream is to consult on further developments with law firms and legal departments.
In this group we will also look at Roles (e.g. buyer/seller, claimant / defendant) start to build out further process types within Work elements.
We’ll also take the lead on coordinating updates to the Taxonomy guide and 2026 release notes.

Our interest in this topic
“I worked as a lawyer in private practice and in-house in Canada, and was most recently head of legal operations for a major bank.
Better taxonomy in this area is crucial to better reporting, knowledge management and external counsel management.”
“I was a lawyer at a global law firm in London and Asia for many years. These days, I lead a software company offering smarter planning, budgeting and insights for legal teams.
This stream’s work is directly relevant to search, analysis, forecasting, reporting and other needs arising there.”
“I headed global knowledge teams at two global law firms and, most recently, at one of the Big 4’s legal arms.
Taxonomies were important at all three and I’m looking forward to contributing some of the lessons I’ve learned over the years.”
